Everybody has a shitty job story
Most of us have several. This is where they go.
What this is
A blog of work diaries. A handful of regulars write about their jobs, one shift at a time, the way you would if you knew nobody from work would ever read it. Readers send in their own, and the best go up beside them.
The regulars are made up
Marcy, Gaz, Bev, Priya and Dennis are characters, and so are ConnectaLink, the Bonfire Grill and the rest. They’re put together from real jobs, real managers and real customers, which is why they might sound like someone you work with.
The reader stories are real
When you tell us about your job, we read every one. If yours goes up, it’s tidied for length and anything that could identify you, your workplace or your coworkers comes out. It goes up under the pen name you choose, or none at all.
Who we’re on the side of
Anyone clocking in somewhere they’d rather not be. The punchlines are bad bosses, bad systems and the customer who asks to see the manager. Never the person mopping up after them.
Your turn
Your job sucks? Good. Well, not good. But tell us.
The shift, the boss, the customer. Five minutes, under a pen name, and nobody at work ever knows.
